A Richard T. "Ditch" Oakes (RIP 1941-2002) Road Scholar® is a lawyer who has attended one of Street Legal MC's Continuing Legal Education seminars in the Black Hills of South Dakota during the Sturgis rally or any individuals that have attended the Street Legal Public Law School.

Street Legal MC® started its fully accredited CLE seminars in 1995, and has continued them as an annual event during the rally. All motorcycle riding lawyers are welcome and invited to attend our CLEs. Unlike any other Continuing Legal Education Seminars you may attend, we can unconditionally guarantee that you will learn something you don't know. This is because the common interest of our faculty is motorcycles, and their legal specialties are all across board. The very first Street Legal Public Law was sponsored by Street Legal MC and held in June of 1998, continuing in 1999 and 2002 in Duluth, Minnesota, during the Minnesota State Harley Owner's Group rally and the Minnesota State Bar Association Convention. It was held at HOG rallies in Mankato, MN and Wausau, WI in 2000, and St. Paul, MN in 2003. "Stopped by the Cops" search and seizure seminar last occurred at HOG rallies in Faribault, MN in 2004 and 2005, and 2006 in Rochester, and at the 2006 ABATE University in Alexandria, MN.
